Project: Parent's Gifts for Erie's Cheer Team

Helping out a new friend, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out 3 different designs.   Then spent 5 mins to teach her how to put them together and create her gifts.

We used orange and black outdoor vinyl so that they would be waterproof.  She will be using the decals on wine glasses or beer mugs.

Here are the designs during the design stage.  Not very original but I like how they turned out.

Then we spent a few minutes learning to layer.  a few basic steps and she had it down perfectly.

First layer, largest portion of the design

Add the second layer, intersecting the designs

Then the final touch and it looks great

Thinking of buying a Silhouette Cameo or Portrait cutting machines?

There is a great deal going on until March 31, 2014.
It is even having me considering buying the smaller Portrait to add to my collection of crafting tools.

Here is my recommendation on how to go about getting the best "bang for your buck."

  1. Join Club Silhouette :  this will earn you points towards future purchases and  will send you a new mat and blade every 3 months.  It will also give you free shipping on the machine.
  2. Purchase the machine of choice at http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/vinyl-lovers . Use the promo code:  MATLESS
  3. Purchase a Silhouette Design Store Subscription, for $10 a month, you will receive $25 worth of designs & fonts or you can purchase a plan for $30 a month and receive $250 credit towards purchases.
  4. My favorite site for free fonts is http://www.dafont.com/ .  Any font loaded onto your computer automatically loads to your machine.
  5. Favorite place to buy vinyl is from Expressions Vinyl .  They also have a purchase club.
  6. Heat press was purchased through Amazon:  Gecko 16 x 24 Heat Press
  7. The Rinestone World is where I purchase rhinestones and rhinestuds.
  8. I also purchase most of my supplies through Amazon.
  9. Vinyl weeding tools:  Harbor Freight Picks and a nice straight pin with large head for smaller areas.
Learn how to use your machine tutorials:
  1.  Silhouette School :  Highly recommended for the beginner and her How To E-Book  is well worth the purchase.
  2.  Pinterest
  3. YouTube videos.

Project: Bowling Design for an After Prom Party

Using my Silhouette Cameo, I cut out 400 bowling pins and 100 bowling balls for a local High School and their After Prom Party.  The parents will be putting the design together and then attaching them to gift bags.

The fourth bowling pin will lay across the ball, as if it has fallen.  Edges inked and red washi tape to finish the look.

Project: Jewelry for my Daughter

Took a class at a local craft store and created these 3 bracelets for my daughter.
Reminded me of making macramé plant hangers back in the 1970s.

Project: Sassy T-shirts

The theme for the week was "Sassy".

I made 2 t-shirts this week, one for a Friend's friend's birthday and the other for my daughter, who has gone from punk to country in the last year.

Project: Starbucks - 2nd Star to the Right

Based on my love for Starbucks and a friend's love of Tinkerbelle, I found this design on a FB group that I belong to.  I am sorry, I looked and could not find the creator's name, to give her credit.

I made this for my friend, who is leaving for Disney World in a few weeks and then I had to make one for myself.

March: 30 Days of Lists - Days 8-14

Week 2

Week 2 of the 30 Days of Lists Challenge:
I love making lists:  things to do, things to learn, things to research, chores to do, bills to pay.......  You name it and I have probably made that list or will sometime in the future.   Lists keep me organized and on track, helps me to remember what things I need to accomplish (which often happen at last minute & in panic mode).

Day 8
Fashion, toys, books, almost about anything is brand new at one time, goes out of favor and then recycles back into being the "newest and greatest things ever."  I should of added Mason Jars to the list above too.  I love the things you can create with mason jars.

Day 9
A note to a younger me, I think I talks for it self.

Day 10
Like most people, I have been in a love-hate relationship with my body for years.  This is something that I am currently working on.  o feel better about my body.

Day 11
The grocery list has changed since the kids are grown and gone.  But it still has the 6 basic food groups.  Yes, chocolate is an essential food group.

Day 12
Technology:  I can never keep up.  Not very computer savy, always have to ask my Son or one of my Team Members to help me figure it out.

Day 13
When you get married and have kids, you learn to compromise and educate yourself on subjects of interest to them.  But there are still some things  that I have had to learn for myself.

Day 14
I love to learn and have a stack of "How to.." or "Books for Dummies...."
I will probably be adding more to this list.

Project: MDM Album for a Northridge HS Senior.

My latest Scrapbooking project was completed for a Senior on our HS Poms Team.   I kept it simple, so that she can add to it herself.  The tutorial for this album is from Kathy Orta at http://paperphenomenon.com/ and the specific High School papers are from a local scrapbooking store, Scrap 2 It, Ft Collins, CO.

Thank you to everyone that helped and encouraged with this project.  It was fun, but took longer than I expected.

Product List:  50 sheets of navy cardstock, 25 sheets of cardinal cardstock, 10 sheets of light grey, 20 sheets of printed/patterned paper,  2 rolls of 1/4 inch scor tape, 1/3 roll of 1/2 inch scor tape, 1/3 roll of 1 inch scor tape, and 3 cartridges of 75 feet of double sided adhesive tape.  I also used my Silhouette Cameo to help cut out shapes, scoring board, paper cutter, misc ink pads and photoshop elements 13 to create a few of the tags with designs.

Please excuse the video, as the tripod I ordered has not arrived yet, and I wanted to video tape it prior to the Banquet.  It is kinda wonky, but I think you will get the idea.

March: 30 Days of Lists - Days 1-7

Week 1

I love making lists:  things to do, things to learn, things to research, chores to do, bills to pay.......  You name it and I have probably made that list or will sometime in the future.   Lists keep me organized and on track, helps me to remember what things I need to accomplish (which often happen at last minute & in panic mode).

Day 1

The first day of the month is also the day that I look at my monthly goals for the year and see the progress I have made and the progress that still needs to come.   With this one task, I was able to cross off a few sub-tasks of long term projects:  Journal/Scrapbook about Me, learn a new skill (Photoshop Element 13) and updating my blog at least once a week (which I think I am behind on).

Day 2

I think the above list is self explanatory.  How many times (years) have we made resolutions only to trash them within a few days or weeks.  There are a few that I keep.

Day 3

This list was specific to the music I listen to... the thing is there is really never anything specific.  I listen to Country in the car and something with a beat when working out.  If I hear a song I like, I will buy it on iTunes.

Day 4

I think this one is self explanatory.  It also explains a lot of my interests.

Day 5

I think at some point every one feels sad and we each have our very own tricks to get ourselves happy again.   A few of my favorites are listed above.  Though there have been events of sadness that have only been left behind by letting time pass or having to take a new path.

Day 6
Wish there was a Book Club in Northern Colorado. I love to read and would be interested in joining a group. there use to be ones at Barnes & Nobles here in town, but when they closed that was it.

Day 7

  • These lists were created in photoshop elements 13 (on my list to learn) and with Becky Higgins Project Life series.

Capture 30: Introduce yourself

21 things to Consider

ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

FOUR. When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.

FIVE.. When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.

SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.

EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

TEN... In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling..

ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.

THIRTEEN! .. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'

FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk..

FIFTEEN. Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship..

NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice

TWENTY- ONE. Spend some time alone.

"She" does not make New Years resolutions, rather she chooses one word that shapes the resolutions for her. This statement is really resonating with me and my word, this year and in the previous years.

One Little Word 2015

This year I am choosing a phrase: I choose to be ......

Because I kept wanting to return to words from the past years and use them again. I think this will let me center on goals for this year to be healthier, financially responsible, creative, family orientated, and t...o be a motivated and inspiring coach.

I wanted it to be front and center, in my face......This is my planner cover, it was created with canvas that is painted and then decorated with my words from the last 8 years onto the cover. It holds my planner, my project planner and Cache style journals.

I need to add the word "Be" to it.... probably in the upper left corner.
